Project Basho, a photography resource center in Philadelphia, provides photography classes, workshops, and tutorials, as well as a rental darkroom, digital lab, studio space, and gallery. It is a small yet dedicated organization of photographers, run by photographers, for photographers.

In 1979 a group of citizens established an organization which was committed to promoting and advocating for the arts in Pennsylvania. The Texas Photographic Society

The Texas Photographic Society, founded in 1984, is a nonprofit organization of amateur and professional photographers dedicated to supporting contemporary photography as a means for creative expression and cultural insight. TPS focuses on furthering the educational and artistic development of its members while involving the community at large by sponsoring exhibitions, publications, workshops and outreach programs. Its openings the second Friday of each month coincide with University City's Left of Center program.
