Max Yavno (1911-1985) was a photographer who specialized in street scenes, especially in Los Angeles and San Francisco, California. He was also a commercial advertising photographer between 1954 and 1975. I made only three prints of this image. One for Max and two for display and my archive. I assisted Max in his commercial studio in Los Angeles during 1970 as a student at the Art Center College of Design.

Located on the Broad River in South Carolina, Union Troops including the 54th and 55th Massachusetts and the 34th and 35th U.S.C.T. Regiments landed here on November 29, 1864. These troops were involved in battle of Honey Hill on November 30, 1863. This was the third battle of Sherman’s March to the Sea Campaign but it did not involve Sherman’s main force headed towards Atlanta.
