There’s been a lot going on with The Photo Review lately! Last Monday, our editor Stephen Perloff gave a talk to the docents at the Edward Weston exhibit in the Allentown Art Museum. Weston’s Women: Edward Weston and Cycles of Influence features photographs by women who profoundly affected his life and will be up through May 17th. The Museum commented on our Facebook post about it:
“Thanks again, Stephen. Your running commentary on Weston’s life and works put all of the photographs in context, brilliantly.”
We took a trip to Portland, Oregon to visit the Portland Art Museum and attended the Newspace Center for Photography‘s Cocktails with the Curator event to welcome Yaelle Amir to the their new curatorial position.
We went to Classically Modern: The Portraiture of Věra Prášilova Scott and The Enclave by Richard Mosse at the Portland Art Museum. The Enclave featured a conventional gallery along with a multi-paneled room that featured alternating video footage that Mosse and his colleagues filmed in the Congo. The entire thing was a very memorable experience.
We are getting started on a subscription campaign to colleges and universities and releasing our 2014 Competition Web Galleries soon.
We also still have a few photos up at Your Daily Photograph, which offers photos for 24 hours at a special price and is run by the Duncan Miller Gallery. Subscribe with them for free to get email updates on photos from our collection and others’.
